Rise Against formed in Chicago, Illinois in 1999 and became one of the most commercially successful and politically outspoken punk bands of the 2000s and 2010s. Known for anthemic melodic hardcore and lyrics on social justice, animal rights, and anti-war themes, they broke through with albums like Siren Song of the Counter Culture and The Sufferer & the Witness. Their 2011 album Endgame reached the U.S. top 3.
