Social Distortion is an American punk rock band formed in 1978 in Fullerton, California, led by founding frontman and sole constant member Mike Ness. Emerging from the Orange County hardcore punk scene, they became one of the most influential and enduring American punk bands, pioneering a rootsy blend of punk with rockabilly, country, and blues that shaped the 'cowpunk' sound. They remain active and touring in 2026.
